quirky ways of happiness - a manual

The challenge is to snap and submit a picture of what makes you happy for 100 days in a row. Easy enough, right?

30 days in, I got stuck. Either my day sucked and I couldn’t find a joyful moment, or I was happy about the same thing I had already posted, or what I was happy about simply couldn’t be captured with a camera. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; I respectfully beg to differ. Feelings and stories are not always visual; yet words have the power to paint, to speak, to touch, to feel, to melt, to shake grounds, and to transcend time and space.

So the picture thing doesn’t really do it for me. But that doesn’t mean I have to give up my right to be happy. In fact, ever since the challenge, I began to notice all the small things in life that can delight you, only if you take time to appreciate them. With support from a few friends, I decided to start this blog. This is meant to be personal, so I will write about anything that makes me happy, no matter how trivial or unconventional. I don’t intend to adhere to popular beliefs or to make everyone agree with me. On the contrary, “I just want to be different” (Kesha).

This will be a little novel, a very personal story, a pocket manual on how to laugh at the darkest days, and above all, a spiritual journey to find happiness in the quirky parts of life.
